ms. worker bee

Hi blog! Yes, its been forever. I’m sorry. On to other things.

Work. I take Escalation calls now (since January of last year haha). Yeah promotion! Besides having customers forwarded to my line because they want a Supervisor, I also assist the Reps with whatever (returns/exchanges, overcharges, compensation approvals, etc).

Other than work, I really haven’t been up to much. I work 5 days a week, 40 hours a week, so on my days off I just want to sit and do nothing. Oh! DUH! One big thing that happened between October 2008 and now is that I moved into my own apartment! In May of 2009. It’s a 2 bedroom and its all MINE! No more living with my mom and her cranky boyfriend. No more listening to him yell at her. Of course, me being me, I am still not completely unpacked. It’s a very slow process. lol One day my spare room will be a craft room, a guest bedroom and a computer room all rolled into one, but for now its not.

Vote no!

10 reasons why gay marriage is wrong. (READ THE ENTIRE THING)

1. Being gay is not natural.
And real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning, tattoos, piercings and silicon breasts…

2. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay.
In the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior.
People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract. Lamps are next.

4. Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all.
Hence why women are still property, blacks still can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed.
And we can’t let the sanctity of Britney Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage be destroyed.

6. Straight marriages are valid because they produce children.
So therefore, gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry because our population isn’t out of control, our orphanages aren’t full yet, and the world needs more children.

7. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children.
Since, of course, straight parents only raise straight children.

8. Gay marriage is not supported by religion.
In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in America.

9. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home.
Which is exactly why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms.
Just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

Re-post this if you believe love makes a marriage.

Vote NO on Prop 8!

I really hope Prop 8 doesn’t pass. I don’t know anyone whose marriage would become effected by this, but I believe everyone should have the right to get married. I hate driving around my town and seeing all the YES signs. Couple A getting married is not going to change Couple B’s marriage. It’s not going to make their lawn turn purple, or their cars not start in the morning. It won’t do anything to change their life, so why reject it.

tonight’s the night

My 10 year high school reunion is tonight. In fact, the doors open in 2 minutes, but I’m still home. I’m running late and waiting for my nail polish to dry so that I can finish switching purses, change my clothes and leave. Dinner isn’t until 7pm so as long as I get there before 6pm, I feel that I’m ok. I wanted to get there around 5:15/5:30pm, but whatever.

As the days have ticked by, I’ve gotten a little nervous. Partly because I’m not taking anyone with me and that means I don’t have an automatic person to chat with. I wasn’t a jock, a cheerleader, or anyone in the popular sense so I’m not expecting people to come running up to me to talk. Not to say that I was an outcast and people hated me, but you know.

Ok, I think my polish is dry enough to continue getting ready. I’ll post more when I get home or tomorrow. I think. lol

shopping is fun :x

My mom and I went to Fashion Bug yesterday because I still hadn’t bought anything to wear to my high school reunion that’s in 2 weeks. Well even though we are on their mailing list and I’m on their email list, we never got notice that there were having a fashion show. We got there right before it started and there were people everywhere to watch the show and blocking the path of people who were there to shop. My mom and I are looking at clothes and I see a top I want to try on, but it’s to high up for me to reach on my own so I needed one of the sales girls to come along with that stick thing to get it down, but they were all with the people for the fashion show and not paying any attention to customers. I found one of those sticks against the wall and got the shirt down myself. Then I saw another shirt I wanted and used the stick for that too. Then I saw a third, but the fashion show had started and you couldn’t get across the aisle and my mom’s back and legs started hurting and so we just dumped our stuff on the nearest rack and left. It was really bad customer service that they didn’t have at least one sales associate to help the customer’s that wanted to shop instead of watching the show. The majority of the girls were for the misses side and I don’t give a crap about watching people in a size 0 model clothes in what I consider a mostly plus size store. If we had known there was a show going on today we either would have gone yesterday or waited until after the show ended.

Since that was a bust we decided to drive up to Stockton and go to the new Lane Bryant/Cacique store. Their bra sizes go up to H, but not in a 48, which is the number I need. I tried on two different styles in 44H’s (because that’s the highest number an H goes), but neither fit even with a band extender snapped on. I hate bra shopping! I didn’t even think to try on a 48DDD while I was there. The ones I already have in that size are a different style and I think that’s why they fit. Hello the TMI, yes?

Next we went across the street to Catherine’s. I didn’t find any shirts I liked there, but I did try on three skirts. I really didn’t like the hem of one of them, it was different lengths and reminded me of what you’d wear if you dressed as a witch for Halloween. The other two were almost the exact same (straight, plain, black) except the fabric felt different and one was layered at the bottom. I didn’t buy any of the skirts because I wasn’t sure about the price, the one I liked the most was almost $70, but the website it telling me it’s on sale so I’ll have to check on that if I go back.

As we were leaving Catherine’s my mom started to not feel well and thought it might be because of the time (it was almost 5pm) and the fact she had a really small lunch so we headed back to Manteca for dinner. I’d already told her I was going to treat her because of the way Loud Guy acted the other night. I mean, he acts like that all the time, but the way he handled her falling was so shitty I felt really bad for her. We went to this place called Tommy’s Beach Bar & Grill. I’d never been there before, but my mom thinks she has and can’t remember for sure. lol I had this mexican/taco salad that was really good. They have deep fried pickle spears there! I was thinking about ordering some because I’ve heard about pickle chips and wanted to try them, but didn’t. Maybe next time.

After dinner my mom still wasn’t feeling well so I dropped her off at the apartment and then went back to Fashion Bug so that I could try on the shirts I had seen earlier. I walk in and none of the sale girls greeted me and they never asked if I needed help with anything. I stood around waiting for at least 10 minutes to get a dressing room before one of them appeared to ring up someone who had been waiting at the counter and then I asked for a room. And since they were nowhere to be found when I needed to get something from up high, I had to find my own stick thingy and get them down myself. Needless to say I’m probably going to write up a post in the bad_service community on livejournal about them and possibly send a letter/email to the store. The way the girls were talking and what they were talking about they couldn’t have been out of high more than a couple years and don’t have any customer service brains. What were they talking about? Well they called Johnny Depp old and said that Cry Baby was a really old movie, which it is old, but they said “really old” like it was made in the 1800’s. One of the girls goes “I really love old movies like that”. Maybe because I consider black and white movies and stuff from before the 50’s old, but wow. lol I was giggling away in the corner while looking at stuff.

I ended up buying three shirts. I couldn’t find one of them on the website, but it’s a baby blue tshirt with blue and white hearts on it. The other two I bought are…

I’m leaning towards wearing the one on the right to the reunion because it’s sparkly. lol At some point this week or next weekend I have to find a pair of pants/skirt to wear. I have a pair of black pants, but they are knit and pretty casual compared to the top. That’s what I was wore yesterday while shopping and if I couldn’t find anything else, I’d wear them, but I’d rather not if I can help it. I might take a look at Payless for shoes, but I have a pair of flats that can are dressy/work and anything else I bought would be pretty similar. I don’t want to take a chance with heels and fall on my ass. lol

There’s is a Lane Bryant outlet store and a Dress Barn across the street from my work so I am going to try and stop over there one day after work this week. If they close before I get off work, I’ll have to wait until this weekend. Which is going to suck since there’s no Catherine’s in Tracy and that would mean if I don’t find something there I have to drive back up to Stockton. Or I may just skip those stores, but if I could have gotten something cheaper I’ll hit myself. lol And I just checked the Dress Barn website and it says they only have sizes up to 24. I swear they used to go up higher than that. Bah! I also checked the hours and they are open after I get off work so I’ll still stop over there, just in case, but at least I don’t have to make a special trip out there.

I just tried looking for the hours of the LB outlet and the website doesn’t have them and it also didn’t say there was an LB at the nearby mall. So I went to the mall’s website and looked at the directory and it’s not there either! They took away the LB store at the mall in Stockton too, but that’s because they opened the store almost directly across the street that has Cacique attached to it, so maybe they are doing the same thing in Tracy. The mall does have a Torrid though so maybe I’ll take a peek there one day.

Ok it’s now 6:27am. I started typing this up last night and stopped because I needed to get to bed and started up again about 3 paragraphs ago. I think I mentioned everything I wanted to. Who knows. lol

eta: Forgot to add this coupon I found online for Fashion Bug. If you use a Visa card as your payment method you can get $20 off a purchase of $50 or more. My total yesterday came to $42 and I saved $37. The tshirt went down from $6-something to $4-something and the other two shirts started at $34 and were both discounted $17-something with being on sale and using the coupon.

wp problems

I’m trying to set up a new blog. Well the same blog as this one, just under its own domain. Anyway, I already had a ton of trouble upgrading to WP 2.6.1 yesterday, but I got it working. Now I can’t log into my account. For that blog, not this one obviously. lol

I’m pretty sure that I’m entering my correct user name and password, instead I keep getting this message.

Warning: getmypid() has been disabled for security reasons in /home/julie524/public_html/beautifulmess.elementfx.com/wp-includes/class-phpass.php on line 52

I’ve tried this and this. Neither have worked. When I try the first way and hit “submit”, I get a blank page. When I try it through phpMyAdmin, nothing happens when I use the new password.

I’ll give internet cookies to whoever can help me.

eta: It’s fixed!!! weeeeeeeeeee! Rory gave me some advice to upgrade my PHP version and I did that and I also changed a string of text in my class-phpass.php file. Well first I did this other thing to change the password and that didn’t work so I emailed the author of the blog and got some help.

i don’t even know anymore

So there’s a boy. Or there was a boy. I don’t even know anymore.

We haven’t talked in 7 weeks, except for about an hour online a week and a half ago. No phone calls, no text messages, no IMs, no emails, nothing. I’m pretty sure that I should just give up and call it a loss at this point, delete him from my cell phone and buddy list and forget all about him, but I’m hurt and want answers. I’m just not sure how to go about getting them. The last 2 times I emailed him (before the 7 weeks started) it was because I hadn’t talked to him in at least a week. Within a day after I sent the emails he would reply and say that he’d been busy and blah blah blah and he’d magically appear on messenger after a week of us not being on at the same time and after a bit of chatting he’d say “brb” and never come back. And I wouldn’t hear from him until I sent him another email. So now I don’t want to email him because I’ll assume his response will be because I contacted him and not because he was planning on doing it anyway.

Before I started typing this out I reread the ending of our last chat convo (I have it set that they save automatically) and I had asked him if he was glad his weekend from work was coming up and he said he guessed so, but that he wasn’t doing anything. So I said that he should do something with his weekends and he said he’d like to but it’s hard because he doesn’t have much time. Ok, not doing anything and not having time doesn’t add up. 3 minutes after saying that he said “brb” and disappeared. Plus I feel that if he really wanted to meet me (the way he’s said he’s wanted to) he’d make the damn time. I know that he’s been online in the past 7 weeks because we’re both signed up for a website that lists when you were last logged in. He could call, he could text, he could IM, and he could email me. He’s got a billion ways to contact me and he hasn’t done any. So I’m just confused and hurt and pissed off and about a million other things. :(

When we first started chatting online, it was every day for at least a few hours at a time. That was around the beginning of April. Now it’s at nothing. When we first started chatting, we were getting along so well I was already starting to fall for him and we hadn’t even met yet. And the way my life goes, I figured I’d end up hurt in the end, but for different reasons (that I won’t go into) then what is currently happening.

This is why I don’t put myself out there. Why I’m 29 and single. Because every time I meet/chat with a guy that I think I could have something with, it goes wrong and I back off of the dating scene (not that I’ve ever actually been in the scene) to keep myself from getting hurt.

funny links and cell phones

* The penguins. They are a flying.

* Font Conference!

* WOW. Listen to these voicemails this guy left a girl. I won’t go into more details because it takes away from the crazyness.

My cell phone contract expires in January and I have to branch off onto my own contract at that point. Right now I’m part of my dad’s family plan (with him, my step-mom and brother). I have a Nokia 6030 right now and it has no big features. It was the current “free phone” when I got it. When I first got it, it was fine. I really only needed it for calls and I didn’t have a text messaging plan. Now I have unlimited texting and I use twitter and britekite. So when I get my new plan/contract, even though I have a Nokia 6800 around here somewhere that I could use (or keep using the 6030) as it has a full keyboard, I’d rather get something with a full keyboard and a camera. And not an iphone. The mp3 player part I don’t care much about since I’ve already got an mp3 player. The main question will be if I can afford such a phone and the plan. So my question to you, dear readers, is what type of cell phone do you have? What are your likes and dislikes about it?
